    What happened to Mattson Holliday?

Is he no longer a prospect, or was he declared a bust?

79th pick to #1 prospect. That’s some incredible progress.

He reminds me so much of Kyle Tucker. We Sox fans have to be patient, though, and remember that Tucker didn’t exactly set the league on fire, when he came up. It took three years for him to settle in.

From their article discussing his rise to #1:

    > With Caminero’s graduation, the Red Sox currently have four Top 25 prospects as well, with Anthony (No. 1), Marcelo Mayer (No. 10), Kristian Campbell (No. 24) and Kyle Teel (No. 25).

    > The Red Sox were also the last team to have four prospects rank in the top 25 of the offseason Top 100. Yoan Moncada, Andrew Benintendi, Rafael Devers and Anderson Espinoza all ranked within the Top 25 in 2016.

Speaks to how tough it can be to translate even highly-touted prospects into MLB talent. That list has one player who’s a franchise cornerstone, two who had flashes of brilliance before becoming average (and then bad for Benintendi), and one whose career got wrecked by injuries. Moncada and Espinoza did far more for Boston by landing them Sale and Pomeranz than they would’ve done playing for the Red Sox.

No idea who this is, but Roman Anthony is a solid name.

I think Roman will be a great player but anyone else feel like it might be a little weak this year. I don’t see him as a number 1 prospect kind of guy.

  7. Given the stte of the playoffs advertising, let’s just be thankful his name is not Roman Johnson.
