Jesus. Wasn’t it being used as a shelter at the time?

Man. It looks like the field and seats weren’t totally destroyed (assuming that the long strip in centerfield are just rubber mats on top of the turf), but I wonder what the concourses look like

I am curious what sort of winds the roof was supposed to have been designed for. I just never thought the entire thing would get ripped off like that.

Forgive me for asking matter of fact like but for people who understand things like storm damage better than me, what’s the likely story here? How much damage is likely done internally and what are the odds that the field and park will be in any condition to be played in come April?

« Hey, we’re building a baseball stadium in the middle of hurricane alley. I know, let’s make the roof out of a giant sheet! »

  6. Holy shit, that’s like 3/4 of the entire roof, just shredded. I wonder if they’re going to just throw another tarp over it or move forward with a new stadium plan.

I’m sorry, Rays fans. This must be tough to see.

  8. Gonna need one of those firefighting planes to make a pass over the stadium dropping diamond dry.

I know it’s not a smart financial decision but if it’s possible they should put a retractable roof on it instead now.

Stupid question because it’s an indoor stadium or at least it was until yesterday.

    Do they have a tarp?

It’s not the point right now, but you clean up that debris off the field and get some good weather, that stadium looks downright comfortable to watch a game in.

Why does it look so bad on TV?

Not too bad for the 8th oldest active MLB stadium. I’m sure this will be a good reminder when they build the new stadium to keep hurricane protection at the top of priorities

Has anyone ever tried flying a drone into a hurricane? Curious what the footage would look like lol
