I am a Dodgers fan, born and raised in LA. I was one of the few who truly did not want Ohtani. I knew that money could be better spent elsewhere (pitching, even though our pitching staff sucks, seriously how are all are pitchers always hurt???). But alas they went after him and I’ve watched him all year and I promise you that I genuinely don’t care about the record breaking stuff it means nothing to me. I want a ring, and I had a sneaky suspicion Ohtani wouldn’t really contribute. And look where we are now. He’s 2-12. And as someone who watched the Dodgers all year it was obvious this would happen, he goes through cold spells, lasting multiple games. And of course that has happened now. Not to mentioned Mookie also being a playoff bust. Freddie is hurt, and everyone just kind of sucks.
As a life long fan I genuinely do not care anymore, I can watch and be happy if they win and force a game 5 but it they don’t I am fine with that. Until Dave Roberts is gone and the culture changes they simply won’t win. I don’t count 2020 as a full championship and that gets me a lot of hate from other fans but it is what it is. I’m almost embarrassed to be a fan of this team, but again this yeah I simply don’t care. When they lost Sunday and lost last night I wasn’t angry or sad, I just said fuck it and went to play Stardew Valley. If they lose early I can focus on getting back into shape and not spending 3-4 nights a week drinking. I might prefer that at this point.

Shohei leads off the game with a HR but the game remains 1-0 until the 8th inning when a Dodgers pitcher gives up a 2-run HR to Machado that gets them to win 2-1 and the series.
