Where’s the pitch to Witt? Thought that was one of the worst calls of all time?

So his strike zone wasn’t as bad as the TBS box made it seem except for those high strike calls and a few on the edge. Have to wonder if Ump Scorecards will do an offseason update to include missed calls in the field, with replay review it seemed pretty clear that Jazz was out at second and they still missed it.

  3. Watching the game it felt much worse than the scorecard showed because there were strikes called in the exact same place as those called balls. Felt like a total tossup if a pitcher was getting the call for placing their pitches perfectly.

People have to understand the Yankees are going to get more calls.

The two catchers the Yankees rostered rank in the 94th and 100th percentile for framing.

The two Royals catchers 39th and 49th.

At the time it was made, the 2-2 to Torres wasn’t the most impactful missed call, but I’ll vouch for that being the most critical missed strike all night

  6. The call that impacted the outcome was Jazz’s SB.

Oh look! The called 3rd strike on Witt in the 9th was accurate!

Now everyone can stop complaining about it.

    Two takeaways from this

The TBS box was super inaccurate and the Yankees really benefited from having elite framing from Wells and Trevino this season

94% is pretty good. Wasn’t perfect, but he didn’t ruin the game like CB Buckner or Angel Hernandez.

The amount of bitching and moaning from KC fans you woulda thought this was an all time horribly called game. What do you know it was about average lol

Also the second lowest percentage of this entire postseason so far.

The lowest being Andy Fletcher in Mets/Phillies

Regardless of fairness, I hate that an ump gets a 94% accuracy score with that lima bean zone. Robo umps now!

Imagine if in the NFL there were no goalposts and officials just surmised whether a FG/PAT was in based on the general definition of what the boundaries of a FG were…Strike zones feel like that to me.

I know this is only for the home plate umpire, but just for perspective, if you assume that the call on Chisholm being safe at second was objectively incorrect, that call creates 2 outs man on second, which has a run expectancy of .22, making the overall favor be +0.47 for the Yankees…

Which is still better than two of the other games played last night.
