>The St. Louis Cardinals, who will announce a series of personnel moves on Monday with Chaim Bloom taking on a greater role, plan to shop veteran starter Sonny Gray while reducing payroll.
>The Detroit Tigers are the only postseason team that hasn’t sent a single pro scout on the road to prepare reports for their upcoming opponents.
>The Milwaukee Brewers are keeping a close eye on St. Louis Cardinals veteran first baseman Paul Goldschmidt if the Cardinals opt not to bring him back. They still believe there’s plenty left in the tank.
>White Sox starter Garrett Crochet says he’s interested in signing a long-term contract extension, but the White Sox still fully intend to trade him this winter, with the Philadelphia Phillies among the teams expressing interest.
>Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames’ price tag continues to go up when he hits free agency in November. He has 32 homers with 111 RBI and 21 stolen bases, becoming one of only four shortstops in MLB history to hit 30 homers, drive in 100 runs and steal 20 bases.

Why on Earth would the Cubs want him now after giving up serious prospect capital for Busch? It’s done. This feels like a Boras leverage play, but it’s so weak.

I’ll give you guys a Scouting Report…
Positives
Hell hit 30 HR with a high 700’s ops to low 800’s ops
Negatives
No accountability
Plays maybe the Worst D you’ll see
Can’t hit any pitcher that has a good slider
Tenses up in high leverage situations (moment is too much for him)
At the end of the day he’s just happy he’s on pace for 40 (or at least thinks he is) and has 2 HR derby trophies

Last offseason, most Mets fans were arguing that he should be a Mets lifer and that he was on track for the 500-HR club. A year later, and I’ve seen a lot that want him gone. Things change so fast

Ooohh, I would love to read this, but I need to go do some paperwork for my new beach house in Fargo.

He should go to the Savanah Bananas

I’ve said this before, I feel like the Astros are my personal favorite pick for if Pete doesn’t return. It just seems like the right vibes for someone with the type of stats as Pete to go to a team with a front office like Houston.

Doubt the Cubs are in the market for a backup Pete

That old bitch Stanton would never

If Wisdom is done and Bellinger opts out I guess there’s a spot for him if you squint. I’m not trying to turn down offense so I’d keep an open mind but it sure does feel like this ship has sailed. We need offense though and Soto feels like a pipe dream, so I wouldn’t shut the door on anyone that makes us better.

Mets have so much money coming off the books this offseason. They are going to have an amazing upgrade going into 2025.

Cubs make no sense. They gave up a big package to get Busch who has a 117 WRC+ as a rookie.
While Pete brings a lot more power, you’ll get overall comparable offensive value for a fraction of the cost.
