The pitch in question was located 2/3rds in the zone, called a ball, after pitches further outside had been called strikes all game. Ruiz held the pitch there longer than normal, basically saying to the ump “really?”

  2. Isn’t framing like 10~15% of the catchers job until we get ABS?

  3. Every time I come around on Harper and start to really respect him, he pulls some soft ass shit like this.

Really? You’re upset about framing? Get a life dude.

Didn’t Harper grow up playing catcher too lol, you’d think he’d respect framing some

Does Harper hate his teammate JT Realmuto? 🤔

It was a weird confrontation. I said in Phillies game thread that I did not think the barely up and in pitch was any issue.

Bryce maybe doing a heel turn to give himself the playoff edge he needs.

I mean I’d be pissed too if I knew the zone well and was getting yanked. But it *is* part of the game until auto zone is implemented. And Ruiz can be pissed about the comments too, it’s his job to do so, after all. I think Harper is just venting frustration at the state of framing as it is right now.

I don’t think he has a leg to stand on in this particular instance but as a hitter with a reputation for having a good eye, it has to be insanely frustrating to go up to the plate, watch a pitch clearly out of the zone and then walk back to the dugout with a K because some jamoke who hits .174 (not Realmuto, before you yell at me, I obviously mean in general here) dragged it a foot across the plate, successfully tricking a morbidly obese senior citizen with 20/40 vision in his good eye who blinked and missed the pitch

I’m guessing his rage against framing has built up over time and he finally let it go

As a fan, I accept that pitch framing exists and is part of the game but I absolutely wish it wasn’t. Pitchers already have enough advantages without being able to get calls 3 inches off the plate because their catchers are successfully committing fraud against some guy receiving social security and medicare

I like Brice but if this is what actually happened this is really stupid.

Keibert then drove in the go ahead run.

    Ball. Don’t. Lie.

Me when I am mad that my opponent is trying to win within the rules. (Admittedly, I think framing to influence the umpire is a lame part of the game but that’s part of the game at this time nonetheless).

Bryce Harper getting insanely mad about something innocuous? Color me shocked.
