Not every owner. There are some in sports, like Steve Ballmer, who pay for those stadiums/arenas out of their own pocket.

    That’s a tough situation for A’s fans.

  3. Spanos did the exact same thing to San Diego with the Chargers. Crazy part is that we were willing to give him a new stadium, he just wanted it closer to the water. Leaving was his way of showing the city that he never really cared about us at all.

    Fuck these greedy billionaires

I feel for the stadium workers and fans. I could not imagine the pain I would feel if I lost my team.

Eh, if you look at the A’s deals they’re actually one of the weaker examples of this. They got very little public money in the LV deal, and the Oakland deal had no public financing for the actual stadium/developments. It’s certainly nowhere close to Miami, Phoenix, Cleveland, Milwaukee, really just about every public financing deal we’ve seen is much worse.

  6. [The Oakland Athetics had below average attendance in 50 of their 57 seasons.](https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/OAK/attend.shtml) They finished last in attendance 11 times and second to last another 7, this despite having the 5th most playoff appearances during that time.

Having had a team in a different sport go through relocation, I do feel bad for the A’s fans who did support that team, but it is a statistical fact that there weren’t enough of them. John Fisher is a terrible owner, but no billionaire on earth would have privately funded a baseball stadium in Oakland with that historical data.
