    >The games Monday will only be played if they matter to one or both teams for playoff reasons.

    >The doubleheader on Monday would begin at 1:10 p.m. EST.

This checks out. No way these games are going to be played and the Mets need to leave before the hurricane arrives.

Just a gong show from top to bottom

  4. Guymcpersonman

Yup. There was no way they were playing today, no way they were playing tomorrow, and teams are gonna have a rough time getting in and out of ATL on Friday.

  5. Beng1997

Well that is beneficial to absolutely no one.

  6. Disused_Yeti

who could possibly have seen this coming…

    ffs

That basically guarantees the Braves won’t be able to pitch Sale in either game Monday unless they don’t start him this weekend against KC and have 11 days between starts. Complete shitshow where both teams now have to hope for the best case in which Arizona loses out and at least one of the games on Monday is completely meaningless

  8. rbhindepmo

tomorrow night sounds like a marvelous time for the Royals to take a flight into Atlanta

  9. I am shocked. Who could have seen this coming 5 days ago?

The Diamondbacks can make all the drama go away for everyone. Just saying.

  11. ScudzillaRay21

Fuck the Braves, sincerely. What an absolute clown show.

« Just a piece of metal » – Rob Manfred, telling the truth.

The league doesn’t give a shit at all.

*The Phillies, Dodgers, Brewers, Padres, and Diamondbacks liked this post*

Seems like a pretty blatant fumble which was always going to have knock-on effects for these teams’ playoff chances given how tight the WC race is.

They have to play their games Sunday, then Mets fly to Atlanta, both play a doubleheader Monday and then one or both fly somewhere for the WC on Tuesday (because the Braves won’t be hosting a WC)? Nightmare for them, boon for anyone playing them.

If only we had known about this a few days ago maybe the MLB could have done something proactive about this. Oh wait we did fucking know. Literally the worst case scenario is playing out and we’re stuck with a doubleheader on Monday.

I wouldn’t be shocked if the Royals-Braves play two on Saturday and the game on Friday night gets called as well.

Braves would play five games in three days if necessary.

  16. grayson_gregory

To be fair to Manfred and the MLB… Nobody saw this Helene storm coming. There’s not even a way to predict these things.

  17. Guymcpersonman

It’s gonna be Some Shit when one of these teams clinches but is forced to play a double-header because the other team’s status is in doubt.

  18. jboogie1844

this is infuriating, to say the least

  20. Bower1738

Fuck Manfred and the entire Braves organization

  21. ForsakenRacism

Galaxy brain Braves don’t get Their big box office anyways and dick up both teams

  22. Idiotic and easily preventable. Just a serious lack of common sense, which doesn’t seem too common nowadays.
