That’s a big boy blistering the base paths. Way to go, Kirk.

The rule that you need to touch the ball for it to be an error needs to be changed

Eh, that’s a 3 base error

My goodness that was a terrible attempt from the RF. Did he lose it in the lights or something?

Shame on SportsNet for showing so little footage of him running

That was the most little league looking fielding blunder I’ve seen this year.

These kinds of plays reinforce my belief that baseball should just remove errors from the equation and count any time a batter reaches base after a batted ball as a hit. Heck, that would even make batting averages inflate.

The RF let it pass because he wanted Kirk to get tired and reduce his ability to effectively frame pitches and throw out runners. Sure it cost a run in this moment but the advanced analytics of base running and pitch framing prove that this was the correct decision by the outfielder and his DRS and defensive WAR overall should increase. Reminds me of when teams would famously intentionally walk the Big Sexy to try and negatively affect his pitching by tiring him out on the bases.
