That’s more reasonable than what Robles did the previous game.

Regardless, it probably cost his team the game.

Oh honey…that’s not how it works.

Edit – I’m talking about a dead ball on a strikeout. If you don’t hear TIME or FOUL, that ball is live. Doesn’t matter where the bat ends up.

He’s a major leaguer making three hundred million dollars, his team is fighting for their playoff lives and he should know that. No excuses for that and zero sympathy from me. Downvote away.

That’s pretty terrible base running. And some excuses

I don’t blame him for losing focus after that. That’s gotta take you out of the game’s mindset. Getting mentally off kilter is to be expected. It just sucks that it came at such a pivotal moment in the game.

But…y’know, It all won’t matter in a few days anyway so I’m not gonna hold it against him.

I mean, in his defense, I would also be in shock after dodging a bat heading right at me.

another thing that everyone is glossing over is that randy seems to lose his bat every other game or so – not a problem when it flies towards the stands but up the line is pretty damn scary

  7. Understandable, but also a 54.7% swing in win probability (along with Arozarena striking out) that basically cost the game. Couldn’t have happened in a worse spot for him.

Yeah, I’m honestly surprised at the reaction people are having to this. You’re not really thinking clearly after a bat flies at your face. Pretty understandable mistake.

  9. I definitely understand *why* his mind was in « foul ball » mode. How often do you dodge a projectile from where he was on the field and it’s *not* a baseball?

I’d say this was something everyone can learn from but this was a once-in-a-lifetime freak play.

if this was the rule, how many steal attempts would be nullified by thrown bats?
