that might be the worst thing I’ve seen in my entire life

Scored 8-6-2-3-2-5-4 for all those wondering. Marvelous for my scorecard
Chiswell123
I’m actually still laughing at this. Absolute cinema.
Table_Coaster
Yepez getting tagged out at 2nd would have been a wonderful cherry on top
martin_dc16gte
Tailor-made 8-6-2-3-2-5-4 double play, just how you draw it up
Toyboyronnie
Too soon
yianni1229
I think that might be the worst baserunning I’ve ever seen?
soxfaninfinity
Just run home dumbass wtf
OklahomaBac
If there’s any play that should lead to 9th inning comeback, it is this. What in the actual fuck…
Killjoy4eva
Middle schoolers would run poles for that one.
TheDangiestSlad
Verdugo gets to second like 3 seconds quicker and we could’ve seen a triple play entirely on the basepaths, oh my god
Chiswell123
>>In the immortal words of Jon Miller: “That was the worst baserunning in the history of the game.”
MeatballDom
It just kept getting worse, that was one of the worst combined base runningings I’ve ever seen.

On second thought, we are not back
FPG_Matthew
The Nats have literally the worst baserunning in baseball I don’t even need to see a stat book
If I’m Davey, spring training next year is starting with all sorts of baserunning drills. Figure it out my goodness
We’re young and exciting, but boy we can be literally dumb as hell sometimes too
petting2dogsatonce
Literally what?
_Caed_
nats fans can back me up on this but this 2024 team may genuinely have some of the worst baserunning of any team in history ever
Goosedukee
Just your average 8-6-2-3-2-5-4 double play
Killatrap
Charlie’s call on Nats radio was an all timer, he nailed it
cozeners
Someone needs to speed this up and add the Benny Hill music

How in the actual fuck

I regret watching this. This is easily some of the worst baserunning I’ve ever seen.

What the fuck
ledbetterus
First and second, no outs, baseball gets hit off of the wall in dead center, no runs score, two outs. Ends up as a single, out trying to advance to second.

I was following on Gameday and was like wtf is going on.
>José Tena singles on a sharp line drive to center fielder Aaron Judge. Juan Yepez to 2nd. José Tena lines into a double play, center fielder Aaron Judge to shortstop Anthony Volpe to catcher Austin Wells to first baseman DJ LeMahieu to catcher Austin Wells to second baseman Gleyber Torres to third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. to second baseman Gleyber Torres. Joey Gallo out at home. Juan Yepez to 2nd. José Tena out at 1st. 2 outs

words_are_w1nd
I truly don’t think ive seen worse display of baseball in my entire life.
The only thing that would’ve made it better is if Yepez got tagged out before he lazily stepped on second.

Nats just trolling the Yanks at this point.

Reminded me of a couple years ago when they triple played the Jays

This is the baserunning equivalent of that Pirates play where Javy Baez turned their brains into pretzels and they started throwing it all over the place after trying to tag him.
Gallo could not have made a bigger mess of this if he tried. Why the hell was he standing ON 2nd base? Any competent baserunner is at least halfway to third watching to see if he catches it and scores easily.
forgivemeisuck
Yo just take the out.
TheKnicksMakeMeDrink
Why did the mods allow a routine 8-6-2-3-2-5-4 double play?
Which-Emergency-6322
Just when I thought it couldn’t be dumber it gets worse. So close to be the dumbest triple play of all time.
fighterpilot248
I watched that live and my jaw hit the floor. What the actual fuck was that?
Credit to the Yankees defense by my god that was embarrassing to watch. Fire this team into the sun
Skywalkerkid9
Nah the Nats have to go back to Canada after that one
Weaponized_Goose
What did I just watch

I think Judge deked both runners and the 3rd base coach… Then Yepez completely blew it on the bases after that. He held his own guy to a single and upon reaching 3b, retreated back to 2b.
cooljammer00
Nats are winning the game but they’re running the bases like they’re the Yankees out there.
Edit: I thought my GameDay froze. It said « in play, no outs » for like five minutes, unchanging.
ActualDragonHeart
The least surprising part of this is that it is being called by Ryan Ruocco
The meme will never not be true

I wasn’t aware we had Javier Baez coaching baserunning
WhyNotOrioles
As someone rooting for the Nats tonight– that has to be the worst team baserunning ever, right? Turning what should have been a two-run double into a double play?
