Jackson Merrill has a 1.101 OPS in ‘late & close’ situations this season. That’s the 2nd-best such OPS by a player age-21 or younger in the Wild Card Era (min. 70 PA) behind Juan Soto in 2019 (1.183) and one spot ahead of Alex Rodriguez in 1996 (1.041).

Such an unreal year from a 21 year old. Not to mention learning a new position and playing fantastic CF defense. And he’s a good base runner. I’m glad Preller kept this one
