  1. Playoff results aside, he got the team to October baseball and players seem to like him. I remember how quickly he turned the players around after the Girardi sacking.

Goal of any team is to get to the postseason. After that it’s a crapshoot.

I’m interested to see how this decision survives contact with the sales office

I saw this because a friend of mine, a Phillies fan, was upset about it and I didn’t see it here. I don’t get why this upsets him though???🤷I’m curious about what other Phillies think.

  5. He also said there are enough stars on the team, yet here we are. « We’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas! »

But Philly fans kept telling me they were the problem

I’m fine with the repeated collapses. You know what the definition of insanity is…

    >The entire coaching staff is returning next season as well.

    Even Kevin Long?

I know there are a lot of Phillies fans who aren’t going to be excited about that right now, and I do think there’s room for a discussion around whether any of the coaching staff needs turnover…

But who’s out there and available for 2025 who is a clear upgrade?

The biggest thing, IMO, is that the Phillies team has a lot of ego and Topper has been effective at managing the egos to keep the team performing consistently well.

The window is closing, so if there is reason to believe that the current coaching staff is going to be effective at getting the teams to the playoffs consistently for the next couple years, it’s very reasonable to stick with what’s working.

The coaches can’t prevent a total mental collapse from the bullpen or all plate discipline going straight out of players’ heads.

This next year is going to be very telling. Most of all, do the players have a come to Jeepers moment and make a real effort to address their horrific tendency to chase down + away offspeed junk? Does the bullpen remember where it stored its balls? Do the starters stay sturdy and consistent?
