Petco is a beautiful park in a lovely part of downtown. San Diego is a place I’d be happy to live some day. I grew up in Hermosa Beach to a generational Dodgers family, but have lived in Chicago for 10 years. I miss CA.
It’s crazy what sports does to you. By all accounts I should love everything about the Padres – a SoCal surf town that is obsessed with baseball, has exciting and varied players and is supported by one of my childhood idols Tony Hawk. The Padres are cool, man. And yet, I am required by blood to hate them in this moment, and loathe all they represent. What’s a man to do?
