(Santelli) Deux faits, prenez-les comme vous voulez : 1. Ethan rapporte que les Pirates devraient à Rowdy un bonus de 200 000 $ s’il atteint 425 apparitions au bâton. 2. Rowdy a 421 apparitions au bâton.

  1. Pirates: “I can’t believe the hammy is acting up again, let’s do a 10-day to make sure you’re fresh”

Ah I was wondering why he got DFAed 6 days before the season ends

Not that the Pirates are known for signing good free agents, but this sure seems like a great way to make sure good free agents never want to play for your team

So if someone claimed him and gave him 4 PAs quick before the end of the season, would the team that claimed him have to pay the full $200k bonus or the Pirates? or would it be prorated between the two teams?

EDIT: I did find this in the CBA agreement

« (ii) The responsibility for any and all performance bonuses
earned after the assignment shall be prorated between the
assignor and assignee Clubs in proportion to the total number of
relevant events attained during the season with each Club
    involved; »

So I do believe it would be prorated assuming this includes DFAed players

Gotta love it when ownership is clearly okay with risking future free agent signings to pinch pennies.

I get he hasn’t earned any more playing time based on performance but this seems like a pretty bad look for any potential future FA signings
