In the top of the 12th with a runner on 3rd and two outs, the Angels issued an intentional walk to a guy with a .542 OPS. This was a perfectly sound strategy; that run doesn’t matter, you want the force at second, and the next batter was Miguel Vargas. But damn, the White Sox are really at the point where other teams see a .542 OPS guy and think « Nah, I’ll give him a free base, I’d rather pitch to the guy after him »
Naturally, Vargas got out to end the inning, and later ended the game with the brilliant play you see in this video
And by splitting the season series with the White Sox, the Angels can no longer hold sole ownership of the most miserable organization & fanbase of the 2024 season.
