It was a dumb move by the Yankees and Cole. I could understand this if lets say it was 2nd and 3rd with one out. But to do it with the bases empty and one out was just dumb strategy. I don’t remember any other pitcher doing this, ever. Every pitcher has that one player that owns them. You just have to battle to try to get them out.
