We hit home runs, we give up home runs. Since 1955.

CORRECTION: THE HOUSTON ASTROS WERE FOUNDED IN 1962

    A couple things:

    1. Like always I didn’t include the JPBL’s half seasons from 1936 to 1938. If I did, here’s the first for each team affected

    * Hanshin Tigers: Fumio Fujimura – 1936 Fall: 2 HR
    * Orix Buffaloes: Minoru Yamashita – 1936 Fall: 2 HR
    * Yomiuri Giants: Haruyasu Nakajima – 1937 Spring: 4 HR

See why I didn’t use them?

I did include the 81 strike shortened season though.

    2. I didn’t include players who were traded mid-season. Yes, the White Sox did it twice. Yes, that’s extremely funny to me as well.

    3. If you’re wondering why it took until 1994 for a team currently in the CPBL to win a home run title, that’s because the Mercuries Tigers dominanted the home run meta of early Taiwanese pro baseball, mainly thanks to Chung-chiu Lin and Panamanian slugger Luis Iglesias.

The Tigers went defunct in 1999.

  3. I have never heard anybody call Stanton that.

What happened in 1902? Tommy Leach led the league with 6 homers?
