  1. >Mets Hall of Famer Ed Kranepool passed away at age 79 yesterday after suffering from cardiac arrest in Boca Raton, Florida. Kranepool played for the Mets from 1962–1979. He was a member of the 1969 Miracle Mets and an All-Star in 1965.

Quotes from Steve Cohen and various 1960s Mets in the article itself. Kranepool was the longest-tenured Met, playing in 1853 games for the franchise.

Could’ve ran for mayor of New York and won in 1969.

The original face of the franchise, this loss hits deep.

May his memory be a blessing to us all and to this franchise.

    Let’s win it for Ed!

Had a chance to see him play from my first game in 1974, collected all his baseball cards, met him at card shows and he’s been a constant presence as a team alumnus. A wonderful man, a great teammate and bled Met blue, he’s been a constant presence on tv when being interviewed about the Met eras he played in (eras plural). Rest in peace Ed. You will be missed dearly.

    RIP

Pretty sure Paul Lukas (formerly of Uni Watch) is taking this one hard.
