    CORRECTION: COLORADO ROCKIES FOUNDING DATE IS WRONG, RELIC OF COPY-PASTING SLIDES.

    *For NPB I chose not to include the half-seasons from 1936-38 or the shortened season of 1944 because the sample size is too small (40ish games). If you were to include those seasons, here’s who would be here instead:

    * Chunichi Dragons: Susumu Nakane – 1936 Fall, .376
    * Hanshin Tigers: Kenjiro Matsuki – 1937 Spring, .338
    * Yomiuri Giants: Haruyasu Nakajima – 1938 Spring, .345
    * Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks: Toshiaki Okamura, 1944, .369

    Also I should state that this is only for teams currently in each league, if I were to include defunct teams I’d have to include batting title winners from ALL defunct teams and I didn’t have enough room for that.

    I also decided to use Won-bu Ko’s Japanese name because he moved back to Japan after his KBO career was over. He also started his career with the Nankai Hawks under that name.

    Also, although it goes without saying, Western Name Order for a Western Audience.

    I also didn’t include seasons where a player was traded midway through the season.

    Luke Appling such an underrated player, hitting .388 as a shortstop is crazy.

    If it wasn’t for WWII he probably would have gotten 3000 hits too (that and he walked a lot, which made him a better player but a lot less famous in the long run).

    Also, I’m pretty surprised Jimmie Foxx was the first Red Sox player of all people to win, but I suppose he did go into the HoF with a Red Sox cap/win an MVP there so why not him.
