Given the Kikuchi price, I assume the Yankees offer was a 1 for 1 Soto Flaherty trade?

Friedman’s fetish is collecting players with history of injury with high upside.

Did anyone read the article? It says he got injections in his back and has been asymptomatic since. He has pitched very well in recent starts and the Tigers planned on starting him Thursday

It makes sense to be worried about Flaherty imo. Also didn’t realize he received two back injections in July. But there’s a reason for Flaherty signing a one-year deal in free agency. He either hasn’t been good or hasn’t thrown a full season since 2019.
It’s still well worth the risk because if he gets hurt it’s not like those prospects were going to play this year but if the Yankees were set on dealing Nestor maybe that ruined their plan and would be in big trouble if Flaherty’s back flares up right after they deal Cortes.

Flaherty is too based for the Yanks.

Well that sucks. That explains why it went down to the wire and why it was a lesser return than many were expecting.

Sure is a lot less shit talking from Dodgers fans all of a sudden.

He’s also on the record as having a tear in the front of his labrum that he’s pitched through basically his whole career. I had the same thing and didn’t know it was that bad until the back side of the labrum went out after changing mechanics, presumably unrelated. As long as Flaherty doesn’t go for the Giolito short arm, he should be fine, based on my Science

That makes me feel better
Worst back the Yankees doctor has ever seen.
