At this point, the Giants need to add in order to compete with the wild card contenders that just improved, so either they know something we don’t or there’s something in that San Fran water.

Blake Snell has activated his on button.

I’m fine with that, but I still contend there are ways to shed some players from the roster and treat it as addition by subtraction.

The reliever market is absurd, Taylor Rogers has been awesome…and the Giants don’t seem to view him as a high leverage reliever according to their usage. Might as well get a good return for him and plug in one of the other performing bullpen arms we have for good like Bivens.

Conforto is another redundancy, if they can offload him – even if it’s for barely anything – then they can give Matos a true shot at playing time and have Yaz as the lefty super-4th outfielder.

I’m already happy with the Soler trade as it frees up DH for this year to nurture Luciano’s bat (and it allowed us to offload Jackson). Might as well complete a few more trades that have that same mindset.

Blake Snell retired tomorrow or some nonsense

As is tradition. 7 game slide incoming

I know they got rid of a shaky reliever in Luke Jackson but how do you get rid of (one of) your big free agent acquisition(s), who has the potential to mash and has been much better lately, and insist it’s actually a good thing?

Middling team decides to keep Blake Snell at the deadline in hopes that he can carry them through the 2nd half?

Of course I know him, he’s me.

  8. A sweep of the Rockies really making them go into contender mode huh…

Not selling guys like Rodon is what has them mired in mediocrity.

Should 100% sell Snell in a market like this.

Dbacks and Padres are both easily better than them. Pretty delusional to go for that one spot but Farhan trying to save his job

AKA no one wants to rent him and take on that potential contract on top of whatever we were asking for

….or no team wants to take the risk paying him $30 million next season if he is doo doo or even league average the rest of the season.

I feel like this same thing happened a few years ago with SF. They got hot before the deadline, traded no one and then went on a big skid right after.
