Edit: but tbh I honestly don’t see the Dodgers signing Soto. Friedman doesn’t usually engage in bidding wars, especially for Boras clients that simply go to the highest bidder. Ohtani was the exception, of course.

I hope all you people complaining about Soto with the Yankees are happy now, because it can get worse.
Soto has unironically played himself into this being plausible with both a positive DRS and OAA this year.

So I’m all for giving Soto a bizillion dollars but him and Ohtani on the same team feels like a bad fit. I’ll watch Soto hit until he’s 40, but by 30 I doubt you’d ever want to see him in the field. Maybe he could take over 1st after Freddie retires?
I mean Shohei deferred all but $20 million of his $700 million to set up scenarios where big names can sign, it would be nice to add Soto deferred or not (Boras won’t let a deferral happen lol) but I think he stays a Yankee.
