Which one costs money
It’s a sellers market. Sox need to take advantage of it!
I think they should sell high on Devers. Just an unbiased opinion.
I don’t understand why they would sell
They have a legit shot at catching the Yankees and once you’re in the postseason anything can happen
We’ve been in this spot recently only to fall apart.
The pitching is just hanging on. We knew it wasn’t sustainable.
They want to trade for a starter but they are dead set on holding onto the 3 guys that are impact guys that are a year out.
Casas will come back and he will take a while to get going again. A lot of hitters like Wong, Refsnyder, and Abreu are over achieving based on BABIP.
It is a well rounded lineup and they should buy in given their standing but ownership and some of the front office is looking long term and that just isn’t a great philosophy when buying at the deadline.
This shouldn’t be a question. Cmon
Royals are in a similar spot with Lugo and Wacha imo. This team has been not very good for about a month and a half, you could trade these guys for young controllable pieces, and go into next year with a rotation still headed by Ragans, Singer, and Marsh who shows promise.
On the other hand, if they can just plug their bullpen, and maybe get an outfielder, this team has a shot at the playoffs. The Astros and Red Sox are going to make it difficult though.
It all depends on what deals are out there. It’s easy to say they should be buyers when you have no idea what the asking price of anyone is.
The Yankees turn would-be sellers into likely buyers.
If the Red Sox are selling Kenley is gone since he’s pitching decently and on his last year.
I could see Refsnyder being traded as well. He’s been playing really well this year and has a relatively cheap team option for next year. He’s usually only been seen as an option vL but his vR numbers are just as good.
They should do a mix of both. Trade impending free agents like Tyler O’Neill, Nick Pivetta and Kenley Jansen, while acquiring longterm assets.
