MLB’s Twitter account is getting an average of 4-5 million viewers from Japanese fans in social media whenever they mention Shohei Ohtani, and that’s not counting shares/retweets by Japanese viewers for them to post MLB pages mentioning Shohei Ohtani to other JP social media. They’re in for those clicks from Japanese fans where there is high demand on Shohei Ohtani considering that MLB interest among fans in Japan is at a record high 30% this year (up from 19% last year).

Was it his birthday today? Serious question, I don’t keep track of them

(Edit: Thanks for informing me, everyone!)

  3. I just checked and it seems true and it’s not on IG either. u/mlbofficial I hope you tell your coworkers to make like a computer and get with the program. They mentioned it on MLB Network, how on earth does not every single media team get the same set of talking points or whatever you call them.

All of you part of the media and creative teams sometimes lack an attention to detail. Most folks don’t see it, so no biggie, but all that does is lead to these omissions. The history of this game is incredibly important, no other sport celebrates its history like this game, and it should be a major part of every media outlet. Step it up or leave and let someone else come in who will celebrate the game from the past the same way they celebrate the games today.

At minimum mlb should at least let Cleveland wear 14 for the day

Doby hit .156 with 1 double and nothing else in 29 games after he started. Imagine having all the same pressures as Jackie Robinson while struggling massively.

The resiliency it took to not only keep at it in spite of all the racism and pressure and still put up a Hall of Fame career is astounding.

Make a Larry Doby Day. At least let Cleveland wear his number. And someone make a damn movie about him.

The MLB X account is probably run by a couple of 20 year old interns. I wouldn’t expect much better.

Guards fans know and celebrate accordingly but MLB needs to step its game up and acknowledge important history of the sport and the nation. Happy Larry Doby day everyone, he was a true hero 1️⃣4️⃣

I have to recommend the book/audiobook « Our Team » about the 1948 Cleveland Indians. Absolutely fantastic!
