Doesn’t mean it was a terrible idea. It’s a little weird in the top of the 11th in a tied game but some managers (Boone) won’t even intentionally walk the leadoff batter when the game is tied in the bottom of the extra inning
Can’t blame them for walking Ohtani honestly. Only problem is that most teams were used to walking Ohtani and not having to worry as much about the hitters next in the lineup.
